About

Our Mission
The mission of Powers Library is to provide free access to sources of information, education, and entertainment to its extended community.

Dr. Cyrus Powers
Chartered by New York State to provide library services to the community, Powers Library was established in 1880 as a legacy of Dr. Cyrus Powers. Powers Library is reputed to be the oldest continuously occupied Free Association Library building in New York State. We are a charter member of the Finger Lakes Library System.

The Powers Library Association is a not-for-profit charitable organization. Contributions are tax deductible under IRS regulations per Section 501 (c)(3).

In 2005 the Preservation League of New York State selected Powers Library to receive its prestigious Excellence Preservation Award for its renovation of and addition to the library. This statewide awards program recognizes individuals and organizations for demonstrating an outstanding commitment to the preservation of New York State's irreplaceable architectural heritage.
