Thanks for 48 great years!

At its annual meeting held on January 24, 2012, the Powers Library Association said good-bye to three long-time trustees and elected one new one. Retiring after a combined 48 years of board service are Linda Arcangeli (14 years), Arlene Franklin (14 years) and Richard Zwirn (20 years). All three have served in key committee and officer positions during their tenure and were instrumental in planning and fund-raising for the library’s ambitious expansion project in 2003.

George Willkens, in his final act as board president for 2011, presented the three with plaques to commemorate their service. All three will continue as members of the library association and have indicated they will remain active in various library projects. “Linda, Arlene, and Richard have served as role models for their fellow trustees, not only in their service to the library, but also in their service to the community,” said Mr. Willkens.

Diane Muirhead of Moravia was elected as a new trustee. New officers for 2012 are Rodney Stayton, president; George Willkens, vice-president; Amy Jones, secretary and Leslie Horner, treasurer.
